I cannot grow a beard.  I have a nearly-hairless, baby-smooth mug.  On the bright side, this means that I don’t have to shave every day.  I usually shave two to three times per week, but lately I have made a habit of only shaving on Sundays.  Nobody notices that I have not shaved until Friday or Saturday, when I finally start developing a visible shadow. When my wife and I got engaged, we decided that we were going to work out and eat right so that we could lose some weight for the wedding.  That didn’t work out.  I am pretty sure that we gained weight before the wedding.  Well, about a week ago and seven weeks into our married life, Mel started eating like a healthy person: reasonable portions, balanced meals, the whole shebang. I recently spent an evening at No Frills1 with Melissa and a couple of buddies.  This should come as no surprise to anybody who spends any amount of time with my friends and me.  We drank, we talked, and we took the conversation to a touchy subject for us: we acknowledged that we spend way too much time talking about things that we might like to do, but we never set any actual goals.  So it was decided that each of us would write a list of things that we want to do in our lifetime.  No rules or guidelines were set for these lists.  My list goes like this… Read the rest of this entry »

I am hesitant.  But here I am, so I guess I am not obstinate enough to resist the constant pressure that I have faced lately at the hands of my BFF’s1.  Now that I have knuckled under, I have to figure out what my purpose is here.  I have set a few guidelines for myself.  They are all pretty common among my friends’ blogs, but I am not attempting innovation.
